Национальный филармонический оркестр России был учреждён в 2003 году Министерством культуры России по поручению Президента Российской Федерации В.В.Путина. Главной целью создания оркестра стало дальнейшее развитие лучших традиций отечественного и мирового оркестрового исполнительства. Оркестр возглавил всемирно известный скрипач и дирижёр Владимир Спиваков. За прошедшие годы активной творческой жизни НФОР стал одним из лучших симфонических оркестров России.

The National Philharmonic of Russia was founded in January 2003 by the Ministry of Culture as commissioned by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The main aim of the NPR’s formation was restoration and further development of the best domestic and world traditions of orchestral performing. The Orchestra was headed by Vladimir Spivakov, a world-known violinist and conductor. During the first years of its activities, the NPR has succeeded in becoming one of the musical symbols of new Russia.
